2023 Data Privacy Week – Respect and Protect the Data You Handle

Data Privacy Week is an initiative that began in the United States and Canada in January 2008 by the National Cybersecurity Alliance as an extension of Data Protection Day in Europe. It Commemorates the January 28, 1981 signing of Convention 108, the first legally binding international treaty dealing with privacy and data protection. The annual campaign aims to spread awareness about the importance of online privacy – both how individuals manage and secure the data they give out, and how businesses collect, manage, protect, and destroy the data they handle.

Today, data is one of the highest valued currencies – meaning it’s often both a company’s greatest asset and liability.

Leveraging data is essential to remaining competitive, but doing so without prioritizing its protection and privacy can lead to devastating consequences. This is why data privacy laws have been created and continue to evolve – to protect people’s personal information and also guide companies on the best practices for collecting, storing, transmitting, and processing data.

We’re a Data Privacy Week Champion!

As both a security and privacy compliance solutions company and a Data Privacy Week champion, we’re excited to contribute to this campaign with resources to educate businesses and individuals on best practices, industry trends, and expert insights.

The challenge for security professionals lies in how to help their businesses chart a course to protect their data from bad actors and be compliant with security standards like SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and more.

We’re here to help.

This week, we’ll release informative resources every day including blogs, insights, and expert guidance. Follow Carbide on Twitter and LinkedIn for access to the latest materials.
